Whether you have been feeling sluggish and low on energy lately or if you have been wanting to lose weight , there are various methods to help to boost your metabolism, regardless of your current situation.

Exercise

If you are not exercising enough, this can be a major factor in a slow metabolism. Step up your workouts each day and enjoy high-intensity workouts in order to help to boost your metabolism without any supplements, pills, or medications. If you find yourself bored at a traditional gym or if you do not have the time, look for online videos of Zumba (Latin dancing workouts), or even other dance workouts and fun routines to switch it up each day, never allowing you to feel bored with your exercise.

In addition to adding regular exercise to your daily routines, you should also consider building muscle by adding strength training at least twice a week. Not only does strength training help to build muscle and burn fat, but it helps to speed up and boost your metabolism as you will keep your body guessing for its next workout repeatedly.

Water Intake

Monitor your water intake on a daily basis to ensure you are getting enough, as without enough water, you will not only become dehydrated, but your metabolism will slow down tremendously. Ensure that you are drinking at least 8 glasses of water per day. If you have trouble drinking water plain, opt for an unsweetened beverage, tea, or even get the water you need for your body by eating vegetables and fruits which are packed with water over pretzels, cookies, and chips.

Nutrition Factors

Ensuring you are eating a well-balanced diet is an essential part to boosting your metabolism. Attempt to avoid foods high in fat and low in nutrients by swapping them for fruits, vegetables, beans, almond milk, and even coconut palm sugar (as opposed to eating white refined sugar or bread). By making simple swaps, you can boost your metabolism while giving your body the vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, and other nutrients it needs to thrive. Add spices such as cayenne pepper or even real chilies to your food in order to help boost metabolism while allowing you to feel full quicker.

If you are one of those people who give little thought about germs, move in a little closer. If you are one of those people whose brains over-react to the simple thought of germs move in a little closer, too. We will see if we can balance out the topic of germs so everyone will have the same fighting chance for living with germs.

The good news is all germs are not scary, harmful and bad. But, for the more undesirable little germs there are ways to weaken them like using Kryptonite on Superman. The bad news is germs are everywhere. Some germs are really potent little health robbers needing a good talking to about staying away from our loved ones. Let’s talk about where we can find some of these little trouble-makers and what we can do about them.

Look around. You don’t see any germs. But they are there. Some of the germiest places are right under our noses. Literally. Starting with our own bodies we harbor millions of germs, good and bad. Keeping them in perfect harmony takes work. That is why bathing is such a good idea. Yes, even for some of you teens who are often opposed to taking daily showers. Remedy with anti-bacterial soaps on hands where germs are often found and under arms where bacteria easily forms. Easy!

There are thousands of germy places. In public places like grocery stores, gas stations, public restrooms, restaurants and playgrounds germs lurk and live. Understand that it is a germy battleground out there. Consider even the lemons you ask for in your water when dining out. Somebody’s hands cut that lemon to place on the edge of the glass you will be drinking from. Protect yourself with portable hand-sanitizers, anti-bacterial clean wipes and good old soap and water before eating. Your body will thank you.

Most people enjoy eating out and trying new types of foods. Sometimes, restaurant goers even become adventurous and try out cuisine that contain exotic ingredients. Most restaurant dishes are harmless and diners are happy to eat well prepared exotic dishes, but some foods can actually kill patrons if they are not prepared correctly.

The fugu fish is a puffer fish that is commonly prepared and eaten in Japan. This fish contains a highly toxic poison in its organs and the smallest bit of this poison can actually kill someone. The fugu fish is considered a delicacy, but because of its deadly poison only properly trained chefs can prepare and serve the fish. Chefs actually must be licensed to prepare fugu so that diners do not become paralyzed from the puffer fish toxins.

In some parts of the world giant bullfrogs are eaten as a special treat. In Africa specifically these extremely large bullfrogs are considered a delicacy. These frogs might be tasty, but they contain poisons in their skin that can cause organ failure and even death. The body of the bullfrog is where the poison is contained and individuals will eat the entire body of the frog even though it can kill. Giant bullfrogs must be cooked thoroughly and great care must be taken to make sure that poisons are removed from the bullfrog.

Another fish that is poisonous, but eaten regularly is the silver strip blaasop. This fish has poisons all over its body, but people in the mediterranean region still cook this fish and eat it. The silver strip blaasop contains poison in its organs and even its skin. This makes it very difficult to prepare the fish properly without tainting dishes with poison. In fact, many people do die from the poison that is released for the silver strip blaasop, but some diners will still take their chances and eat this fish delicacy.

Raw baby octopus legs are considered delicious in some parts of the world and unlike other delicacies, raw octopus legs are not poisonous. They are dangerous though and this danger lies with the way the legs are prepared. Raw octopus legs are actually served as soon as they are removed from the octopus body and usually the legs can be seen moving as they are served. When the legs are eaten, the suction cups on the legs are still able to move and attach to the throat and mouth. This can cause diners to choke and suffocate because they are unable to swallow the octopus legs.

It’s summer and it’s too hot and everyone wants something to help them cool off. The quickest way to cool off is with a cold drink, but where to find drinks that are both healthy and low calorie? Fortunately, anyone can make up their own cooling, healthy low-calorie drinks for pennies. Here are a few.

< strong>Lhassas</strong>
1 cup of Greek yogurt
1 cup of blueberries, mangos, blackberries, strawberries, any fruit of choice
A handful of ice cubes
2 tbs. sugar (optional)

Throw the ice cubes into a blender. Pulse until the ice is crushed.
Add the yogurt and the fruit and sugar.
Blend until smooth. Pour into a soda fountain glass and enjoy.

< strong>Fruit Juice</strong>
The cook can use an old fashioned juicer, an electric juicer or a blender.
They should use fruit that’s heavy for its size, because they have more juice.
After they choose the fruit, the cook should leave it out at room temperature for about a half an hour, then roll each piece of fruit over the counter a few times. Some people may also cut the fruit in half and put it in the microwave for a few seconds, but they should be careful handling it if the fruit gets unexpectedly hot. Pour the juice into a pitcher, toss in some ice cubes and chill for a couple of hours.

< strong>Raspberry Tea</strong>
2 cups of fresh red raspberries
4 tea bags
5 cups of boiling water
Ice Cubes

Place the tea bags and the raspberries into the boiling water, then turn off the heat. Cover and let stand for five minutes, then remove the bags. Strain the mix into a large pyrex bowl, then discard or eat the boiled raspberries. Chill for a few hours, then pour into a pretty crystal pitcher. Serve over ice cubes in tall iced tea glasses.

< strong>Infused Water</strong>
Sliced fruit or sprigs of herbs or a combination, like lime and lavender or cucumber and mint
Cold water
Ice

Fill a large, clear glass drink dispenser with cold water and toss in the herbs or fruit or both. Just before serving, add ice.

< strong>Mai Tai</strong>
1 oz dark rum
1 oz. Amaretto
3 oz. orange juice
3 oz. pineapple juice
Dash of grenadine

Place ingredients in mixer and strain into a chilled Martini glasses. Decorate with little paper umbrellas.
